How To Reach Gangasagar Island
Sagar Island or the Ganga Sagar Tirth Dham is an important place of Hindu Pilgrimage. The holy river Ganga confluences in the Bay of Bengal here. People take a dip in the holy Ganga river and offer prayers at the Kapil Muni temple.
Location
Ganga Sagar is located around 110 km on the south of Kolkata in the state of West Bengal. The island is also known as ‘Sagardwip’. The nearest major city and airport is that of Kolkata. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport, Kolkata provides connectivity to almost all the major cities of India.
How To Reach:
For reaching Ganga Sagar one has to avail Ferry Service from the Kakdwip or the Naamkhana town.
Kakdwip and Namkhana are located 92 km and 104 km respectively from Kolkata. One can reach kakdwip and Namkhana by the railways or the roadways.
The train timings to reach both Kadwip and Namkhana are scheduled keeping the Ferry service timings in mind. Ferry services point in both these towns are located near the railway stations itself. Taxis as well as Bus services are available from Kolkata to reach these Ferry Services point.

• From Namkhana to Benuban – 8.45 AM, 10.45 AM, 12.30 PM, 3.15 PM, 4.00 PM
Ferry Timings to Reach Gangasagar Island:
• From Kachuberia To Kakdwip (Harwood Point) – 9.00 AM, 9.30 AM, 12.30 PM, 2.30 PM, 3.30 PM, 8.00 PM
• From Benuban To Namkhana – 5.30 AM, 8.20 AM, 12.45 PM, 2.45 PM, 4.00 PM.
